FUNKSHEN: The EAST/WEST Collaboration
Funkshen founder/shaper Dave ‘Tully’ Tulloch is proud to announce his collaboration on the 2012/13 Funkshen Bodyboard range with fellow Australian master craftsman/shaper, Glen ‘Ed’ Edwards.

The project is titled “The EAST/WEST Collaboration”, referring to the location of each of the shapers, Tully being based in Perth, Western Australia, and Ed based on the Gold Coast on the East Coast of Australia. These two prominent and respected shapers are highly experienced in producing high performance meticulously crafted custom bodyboards, and this knowledge has served as the basis for the functional craft you are looking at right now.   EFC Core
Funkshen is proud to introduce the Engineered Flex Core™ (EFC™) to our range of cores. The EFC™ is engineered with Variable flex stringers to mimic the qualities of a PE core, but with superior projection, recoil and durability required by the professional Bodyboarder. The first core specifically developed and constructed for bodyboards, EFC™ is a superior core technology that allows us to engineer the flex of your board to meet specific water conditions. The result is a durable, lightweight one piece core with superior memory, flex, recoil and projection properties.                     

Decks and Rails
We use the most comfortable deck skins available whilst not sacrificing on stiffness and durability. Funkshen uses PE 8lb Tuffcell deck skins and for pp core it has a black film for bonding to PP core. We also use Polyethylene 8lb rails as this adds uniformity whilst creating a stronger rail which gives your board life, stiffness and performance. A very comfortable material!

Bodyguards
To add to the durability and performance of Funkshen bodyboards we use 4mm high density x-link bodyguards. We use them on all bodyboard noses and tails to protect them from heavy abuse these 2 areas receive whilst surfing.

Slicks
When only the best will do! We use the highest grade mirror finished Surlyn slicks. The proven industry standard Surlyn still provides the best amount of stiffness and flex to your bodyboard to provide you with plenty of projection.

Hypermesh
Projection, projection! The new Funkshen Hypermesh when combined with any of our cores gives your board that extra boost you’ve been searching for. Hypermesh adds to the overall nose to tail strength of your bodyboard.
