Bodyboard Fin // Flipper Size Guide

Bodyboard fins (or flippers) come in a variety of styles & options.

There are two specific variants:

Asymmetrical (Dolphin Shape)

The classic bodyboarding fin, asymmetrical fins are based on a dolphin's tail and are popular due to their composite natural rubber blend, with a soft foot pocket and stiffer blade section. Both the outside and inside rails are stiffened for control and thrust, whilst the longer outside edge of the fin extends the rail line of your inner leg, giving extra hold on the wave face. The shorter inside edge stops clashing of the fins when kicking & lifting legs for maneuvering, whilst also looking flat and stylish in doing so.

Symmetrical (Identical)

Symmetrical typically fins forego the specific ergonomic foot pocket design (right/left) that asymmetric fins use, usually being able to be worn on either foot. Many brands use a softer blend of rubber (and some even substitute for silicon) in order to achieve a softer foot pocket and fin feel, which can help alleviate excessive strain and cramping in the legs. Symmetrical fins are popular for people looking for more thrust (particularly bodysurfers & water photographers) or swimmers// beginner's looking for softer fin (Silicon based)

Sizing

Sizing varies between brands & models, so we have created a size comparison of our most popular brands to help you find the right size.

These are the same sizes listed by manufacturer and this is purely to aid comparisons between fin manufacturers, making your final decision as the consumer easier.

If the fins are the wrong size you are welcome to send them back and exchange them, provided they are as new and not used.
